Why Are Singing Lessons So Expensive?

Why are diamonds so expensive? Because they can’t be made in a lab. Oh, wait a second.

Singing lessons cost so much because they teach you everything there is to learn privately. You get first-hand experience in what is lacking in your singing and under a good teacher, you will see progress in being able to do things with your voice you couldn’t before.

But is that all? Or is there more to why they cost so much? Aren’t there any other alternatives? Let’s read on.

They Teach Specific Things

One of the things you get for attending singing lessons is that they take your personal weaknesses and your strengths into account when you are trying to do something particular.

So, when you are working on a technique or you might be working on a scale or extending your vocal range then your teacher is going to sit with you and give you particular steps and walk you through the skill that you’re trying to master so that you are able to achieve what you are trying to practice. Moreover, they will try to give you additional practice and homework for you to do when you go home so you make progress while you’re in the classroom. Or at least they should.

This results in a very effective way to grow in the right direction, at a steady pace. But there are a few issues with this as well because your teacher is going to determine the quality of the lessons and if you don’t get better at a certain thing in a particular amount of time then the amount of money that you have put in can start to not show its effectiveness as time goes by.

Slow progress = more money = less cost-effectiveness

But yes, for the majority of the time when you are sitting with a teacher and they try to go through things with you; you will be taught very specific things and given private attention. That’s one of the reasons you pay that much money to get better at a single thing.

They Help You Master Technique

Singing lessons help you master technique. For the majority of your singing journey. from a beginner to a pro level, the difference between the two lies in your ability to not only just sing well but be able to perform every technique within the singing realm effectively, efficiently, and smoothly.

So that when the time comes for you to perform, you are able to go back and forth with various techniques and definitely use various techniques within the same song without any hiccups or noticeable transitions.

And it’s very effective that you are able to see the technique that is performed right in front of you by your teacher. Your teacher will be able to demonstrate to you what you need to do and what kind of sound you need to achieve.

This helps a lot because once singers are able to visualize what they ought to do in order to get a result so they can match what their teacher is doing. In most cases when you’ve heard it once from your teacher you will find that you’ll quickly realize where you’re going wrong very fast. So progress might be quicker in that sense.

Half of the practice is determining where you’re going wrong.

Also, we are able to recreate sounds with the voices more accurately than with anything else. The reason for that is simply since we learn how to speak as probably the first skill we tend to master.

So, we are very proficient at making sounds from our vocal cords. So having someone to show you how the technique is performed and a logical explanation behind it will result in us copying what the teacher is doing very effectively. Most of the time.

Alternatives

Of course, there are a lot of cons associated with these kinds of ‘private’ lessons and the number one being that they are expensive and the reason that they are expensive is already outlined before.

But as you get more lessons you’ll realize that most of the things that are taught can be learned by yourself, IF you just understood the principle and had the knowledge of what you ought to do.

So I bring to you very humbly online courses because for the majority of your singing career you can and should focus on learning as much as possible. If you are paying for learning all of the things that are there to learn to become a good singer then you will soon realize that is not just expensive to pay your teacher but is also highly time-consuming as well.

If you have read any books on productivity and how money works then you know that the value of time is incomparable to money. You can always have more money but you cannot buy back time, no matter how much money you may end up having.

I believe that online courses solve the biggest issue that we all face, that is, we are able to solve the issue of not just commuting from one place to another but having the ability to sit at home and learn from the best teachers just because they have made an online course.

For a fraction of the price of private lessons would cost.

Why Online Courses Are Better

And that is the reason why online courses are better. They bring to you not only just time convenience and a multitude of other things but there are so many out there that it’s hard to differentiate between the good and the bad ones.

If you like to read more about why I believe that online courses are the way to go then you can read the article here.

But as for now, I think it suffices to say that what you really need is at least one online course in your library and for that, I am here to help you with this website.

Which Online Courses to Buy

You might be wondering, which online course you could buy, the answer for that is simple.

The Four Pillars of Singing’ by Robert Lunte. This is going to be the only course that you would need to become good at singing. But if you’d like to be spoilt for choice then check this out.

Whatever you do, I would highly recommend as I do to everybody, to have one course in the library. It’ll only benefit you.

All the best and I hope you become better as a singer!
